A community update on the Acreage Neighborhood Plan

As president of the Acreage Landowners Association, I wanted to take this opportunity to formally thank those of you who participated in the recent community workshops about the Acreage Neighborhood Plan. I also wanted to update the whole community on the process of reviewing and potentially revising our neighborhood plan.

The Acreage Neighborhood Plan represents the will of our community and affects many aspects of life in The Acreage/Loxahatchee. The ALA therefore wants to make sure that this process is resident-driven and that all residents have an opportunity to participate.

The next step will be using the input gathered during the community workshops to draft a poll about the Acreage Neighborhood Plan. This poll will enable us to determine which aspects of our neighborhood plan need updating, if any. The ALA will distribute the poll to the entire community.

Today, I also notified County representatives of where this process stands. In the interest of transparency, I am sharing my email to the county below.

In the meantime, community members who have questions or concerns about the Acreage Neighborhood Plan revision process can reach out to the ALA at info@acreagelandowners.com.

For future updates about the process, keep an eye on the news and calendar sections of our website. Better yet, become a member of the ALA. Paid members  automatically receive email updates about all news and events posted to the ALA website, among other perks, and it costs as little as $20/year.

Dear Madame Mayor, Madame Vice Mayor, Commissioners and PZB staff,

I am writing on behalf of the Acreage Landowners Association to update you on the community’s efforts to review, and ultimately update, the Acreage Neighborhood Plan.

Over the past month, the ALA has publicized and hosted seven community workshops to facilitate discussion about and drafting of questions for a poll about the Acreage Neighborhood Plan. The poll that will be distributed to the community at large, and the appropriate next steps will follow from there. Those steps will include coordinating with the county and following the adopted procedures for amending the Acreage Neighborhood Plan.

Any proposed amendments will be driven exclusively by resident input. Given that neighborhood plans by definition represent the will of a given community, the ALA feels that resident input is the key to ensuring that any and all updates to the Acreage Neighborhood Plan represent the choices of The Acreage/Loxahatchee community.

Best regards,

Bob Morgan, President
Acreage Landowners Association
